There are thirty new starters in the reception class at Hollin County Primary School.
The children have been learning about colours, and have been reading the Elma the patchwork elephant stories.
In the next few weeks they will start to learn about celebrations such as Christmas and birthdays.
Their teacher Ms Reynolds said: “All the children are settling in really well.”
Children at Boarshaw Community Primary School have been learning about pirates. The children have also been learning about autumn and are all looking forward to going on an autumn walk.
Their teacher, Pauline Griffiths, said: “Considering half of the children were from our nursery and half have come from other places we not have done bad at all. They are all getting used to school and getting to know each other.”
There are 28 new starters at Little Heaton CE Primary School, with the help of their class teacher, Ms Ashworth the children have been focusing on geography, they have been learning about their school and their classroom too.
Children at Parkfield County Primary School have been putting their cooking skills to the test. They recently made vegetable soup as part of their work on “the self” and being healthy.
Reception class teacher Miss Cummins said: “The children have all settled in really well.”
At St Mary’s RC Primary School there are two reception classes, each with 23 children in. One of their teachers, Ms Lawlor said: “We have been learning about people who help us. The children have had a visit from the fire fighters which they really enjoyed.”
When the children were asked if they were enjoying school they all shouted “Yes!”
At Newlands School in Middleton children from the lower school joined together for a photograph.
Class 3 teacher Jeanette McKechnie said: “Our topic at the moment is ‘lets get active’ we have been learning about the importance of being healthy and active this has included dance and PE activities and different ways of moving.
“My class love being in school, they are all learning and improving.”
Reception Class Teacher Mrs Hough from St Michael’s Primary School said the children are all enjoying school. They are learning about the toys there grandparents had when they were children – or rather the toys they didn’t have, such as a Playstation.
The children are now getting ready for their Christmas play, called “Children from around the world.”
