Arson suspected after large blaze at Middleton shop

Twenty firefighters battled a large blaze at a builders merchants in Middleton earlier this week.
Fire crews from Blackley, Chadderton, Oldham and Broughton attending the fire at Lewis Builders Merchant on Mills Hill Road at around 1.40am on Monday morning.
They fought the blaze in the yard of the builder's merchants wearing breathing apparatus and five jet hoses.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters worked extremely hard to extinguish the blaze. The fire was quickly brought under control, however, there was extensive fire and smoke damage to the two storey building."
The cause of the fire is thought to be suspicious and Police and Fire Scene Investigators are to conduct a full investigation.
