Reducing crime for older people
Date published: 09 December 2009

Reducing crime for older people in Middleton.
Last month members of the Middleton Neighbourhood Policing Team held a crime reduction day for older people.
It was held at Brookside Community Centre in Alkrington and gave community members the chance to meet their local officers, which included the area Sergeant and Inspector.
During the course of the day PCSO Dominique Grimes and other officers talked about the safer homes scheme and informed residents about establishing Homewatch in their area. They were also able to discuss bogus callers and how to identify them and were given tips on personal safety and how to stay safe in their home.
PCSO Grimes said: "It was great to see residents come down and get to know their local officers and was also an opportunity for us to pass on this important information on safety."
