HGV night-time ban approved
Date published: 13 January 2011
HGVs will be banned from travelling along Pilsworth Road, Heywood, between 08.00pm and 6.00am.
Heywood Township Committee passed plans to introduce rising bollards fitted under the East Lancs Railway Bridge at a meeting this week.
The bollards will limit the width of Pilsworth Road to 7ft 6ins and stop HGVs using the route to access distribution parks in the Pilsworth area.
The move comes following complaints from residents about HGVs using routes through Heywood between the M66 and M62 and Pilsworth rather than the signed route from Junction 3 on the M66 Motorway.
An existing temporary weight restriction on Pilsworth Road and Moss Hall Road, also preventing HGVs from using the routes between 8.00pm and 6.00am, has been made permanent.
