Burst water main causes Heywood traffic chaos
Date published: 16 July 2009
A major burst to a water main in Heywood is expected to cause days of traffic chaos.
The A58, Bury Street, is closed in both directions adjacent to Rose Hill Street and Council officials say it could take days to repair the burst.
Diversion routes are in place via Pilsworth Road, Moss Hall Road, Heap Brow and vice versa, while access to properties will be maintained.
A spokesperson said: "At the moment, it is not clear how long the road is going to be closed for, but the time period is to be measured in days rather than hours."
