Littleborough Station saw the transformation of the waiting room into a consulting room where the people of Littleborough were asked to choose from a range of 108 colours those most redolent of the town.

114 visitors of all ages voted for the six most representative hues, many of which were culled from observational paintings arrayed on the walls by pupils of Littleborough Community Primary School.

The project, arranged by staff from Salford University, was part of Littleborough Arts Festival and will lead to the six chosen colours being adopted for use in fabric designs and a repaint for the waiting room for example and as a theme for the Arts Festival in the summer.

Previously redundant station buildings have been transformed and opened at Easter as a home for the archives of Littleborough Historical and Archaeological Society (LHAS) with many artefacts on display to the public. It is open each weekend from 11am until 4pm and at other times by appointment by phoning 01706 838385. Access is temporarily from the gate on Platform 2 - Leeds bound.

The booking office has been repainted internally and it is planned that the waiting room be repainted in the same Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway colour scheme that has been applied to the Littleborough History Centre (LHC) and to hopefully replace the seating like that in the LHC.
