Littleborough Farmers’ Market is ‘the start of something big’

Date published: 13 March 2011

The first in a series of monthly Farmers’ Markets and Seasonal Craft Fairs was held in Littleborough today (Sunday 13 March 2011).

The market saw many people visit the village and browse the variety of stalls on offer.

Outside, situated on Peel Street, in the village centre, was a selection of food stalls and inside, in the Littleborough Conservative Club, there were over 20 craft stalls spread across both floors.

The market, organised by LEAF (Littleborough Events and Associations Forum) has come from months of hard work and planning.

A trial Farmers Market was held in the village in November and the success of it means the event will now run on the second Sunday of every month.

The Treasurer of LEAF, John Kay, said: “I think it is really taking off. Lots of people are asking me how to book stalls for the next one.

“This is a great day for Littleborough – the tourism centre of the Rochdale Borough.”

Mr Kay added: “I think this is the start of something big for Littleborough.”
