Four-year-old Connor’s entry immediately caught the attention of judges with the name ‘Kenny’ after taking the delivery of 12 Japanese Spider Crabs last week.
A four-year-old from Rochdale has won a competition to name Alton Towers newest aquarium resident.
Connor McCray from Littleborough, won the national competition run by the resort to come up with a snappy name for its latest aquarium inhabitant – a Japanese Spider Crab.
Connor’s entry immediately caught the attention of judges with the name ‘Kenny.’ The ‘claw-some’ name will be unveiled this week.
Connor and his family will now get the opportunity to meet Kenny, who resides in the all-new Skeleton Bay area of the Resort’s aquarium, Sharkbait Reef by SEA LIFE.
Divisional Director of the Resort, Ian Crabbe, who judged the competition alongside Displays Supervisor at Sharkbait Reef, Lucy Handel, said: “We had a wide range of wonderfully wacky entries, but ‘Kenny the Crab’ definitely ticked all the boxes for us and we’re now looking forward to welcoming Connor and his family down to the all-new Skeleton Bay.
"The crabs are absolutely amazing and we’re really excited to be opening the doors to the public this half-term for everyone to admire the giant new arrivals.”
