Date published: 25 September 2010

Throughout September Rochdale Online has been focusing on Littleborough. Features have included the Littleborough and District Lions Club, George Kelsall’s bookshop, Fielden Farm, LEAF and there’s still more to come.

Today (Saturday 25 September 2010) Rochdale Online reporter Laura Wild visited Littleborough to find out what the people who live there consider to be their favourite part of such a beautiful place.

Melanie Holt moved to Littleborough two and a half years ago when her son George was born, she said: “We moved here because we wanted a family home, we are in a great location to just go out for a stroll and everything is very close like the library and the train station.

“There is a lovely community feel and I would recommend it as a place to live.”

Robert Tonge has lived in Littleborough for 12 years following a move from Middleton. He said: “I love Littleborough because it is so quiet, it is scenic and I really enjoy living here. Littleborough is one of those places where it feels like you’re on holiday but you’re not."

Kathryn Dempsy moved to Littleborough from Todmorden three years ago, this morning she was in Hare Hill Park with her children,  she said: “The park is our favourite place, we like to come on a Saturday and Sunday morning.”

Martyn Pye is a relatively new Littleborough resident having only lived there since April, when asked what his favourite thing about Littleborough is, Mr Pye said: “Oh there’s so many. There’s the walking and the hills, the bowling greens and the quaint little pubs. I had been here for days out before I moved and it is a great place to live.”

Mr and Mrs Grayshan used to live in Milnrow but they moved to Littleborough seven years ago. Mrs Grayshan said: “It is very nice living here and I think my favourite part of Littleborough is Hollingworth Lake.”

16-year-old Ethan Johnson said: “I like that we have a train station in Littleborough and my second favourite thing is all the dog walking spots.”
