Littleborough businessman convicted of child porn offence

Date published: 07 August 2009

A Littleborough businessman has been placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and ordered to undergo a three year treatment programme after he was convicted of downloading child porn from the internet.

Joe Sheldon, who runs community web portal Littleborough Online, and owns Teamprint, a printing business, downloaded 23 indecent images from file sharing website Lime Wire.

Police were alerted to Sheldon's home computer by a specialist monitoring programme, which flags up suspicious behaviour on the internet.

Three of the images on Sheldon's computer, which was confiscated when he was arrested last October, were level four images, the second most serious level.

He was sentenced at Rochdale Magistrates Court earlier this week.
