Footballer to appeal for compensation over spinal injuries

A man who suffered spinal injuries after he was tackled whilst playing football at a sports centre in Littleborough has been given the right to appeal against a court decision that he could not seek compensation for his injuries.
Andrew Kerr was tackled by Ged Willis during a five-a-side game in February 2005, and he will now seek compensation from Willis in front of a day-long hearing in front of three appeal court judges.
The tackle caused him to collide into a wall and suffer spinal injuries that have left him confined to a wheel chair.
Previously, a high court judge had dismissed claims that Mr Willis had purposefully pushed Mr Kerr into the wall, but an appeal court hearing in London has granted him permission to challenge the judgement.
