Armed Robbery - Witness Appeal
Date published: 20 January 2005
Police were called to a supermarket in Heywood on Wednesday 19 January 2005, following reports of an armed robbery. At around 7pm four masked men entered the store on George Street in Heywood armed with baseball bats and a hammer.
Two of the men approached the member of staff at the till and demanded they open it. The victim explained that she was unable to do so and the offenders smashed the till open with a baseball bat.
They stole a quantity of cash before leaving the scene in a silver Volkswagen Golf that had been stolen earlier that evening. They then drove off along Bridge Street towards Bury.
Anyone with any further information should contact Heywood CID on 0161 872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
