Uniform switch at Whitworth Community High School for Armistice Day
Date published: 13 November 2015
Students from Whitworth Community High School, who are also members of a uniformed group, got the chance to wear a different uniform to mark Remembrance.
On Armistice Day, the army cadets, fire cadets, Scouts and Guides all wore their uniforms in school and joined Head Teacher Gill Middlemas and other students at the Cenotaph in Whitworth for a service at 11.00am.
Music teacher Liz Fitzpatrick played the Last Post at three assemblies in school and also at the war memorial.
Readings were also given in school by Year 9 students Charlotte Inger, Logan Barrowcliffe and Declan Larkin.
On Remembrance Sunday Head Boy and Girls Daniel Heath, Mia Howells and Chloe Quigley, accompanied by the Head Teacher’s Personal Assistant Irene Banham, laid a wreath at the Cenotaph.
Mrs Middlemas said: “Thank you to everyone who was involved in making Remembrance a special occasion, including governors who made time to join us.”
