Springhill Hospice 'Lights of Love'

Date published: 08 November 2004

This weekend sees the official launch of the 2004 Springhill Hospice ‘Lights of Love’ Appeal, when local people are invited to make a donation in memory of a loved one or friend and the light on the Christmas tree will brighten their remembrance.

The lights will decorate trees outside the Hospice on Broad Lane and also trees in the Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Heywood Market, and the town centres, of Rochdale Middleton and Heywood. All those who sponsor a light will have a card placed on their chosen tree in memory of the person nominated.

Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager, at the Hospice says “the funds raised by our annual ‘Lights of Love’ Appeal are vital in helping the Hospice continue its work with providing care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses across the Rochdale Borough and parts of Rossendale, Oldham and North Manchester.   Hospice care is provided free of charge and therefore we have to cover our costs by raising over £1.6 million each year - £4,500.00 per day – with over 1 million of that coming from voluntary income, donations, our shops, our own lottery, legacies and fundraising initiatives and events”.

Please complete the form below, additional ones can be collected from the Tourist Information Centre, Touchstones, the Reception at the Hospice, and our shops or by telephoning 01706 711144, return complete the forms to Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office, 427 Oldham Road, Rochdale OL16 4SZ, with your donation.

A short carol service, blessing and switch on of the Hospice Lights will be held on Thursday 16 December 2004, 6.15pm at Broad Lane, everyone is most welcome to attend on that evening.
