Date published: 21 October 2004

A number of road closures were implemented in Littleborough, Rochdale, following the spillage of a flammable, solvent based chemical at a manufacturing plant on Hare Hill Road.

Emergency Services were called to the scene at approximately 9.30am this morning, Thursday 21 October 2004.

There were no casualties reported as a result of the incident. As a precaution the plant was evacuated, but there was no requirement to evacuate the surrounding area.

All roads are now open and members of the public are warned that the smell of the chemical is likely to remain in the area for approximately 24 hours, but that it is not dangerous.
