Date published: 19 October 2004
GEM appeal charity football match
This will be a football match not to be missed. The GEM appeal has managed to pull off somewhat of a coup, and have persuaded a team of Coronation Street stars to play a charity football match against them! As this is the last match in the Coronation Street charity season, they have promised to make as many stars as possible available for the match.
Available to play so far is Michael Le Vell who plays Kevin Webster, Steven Arnold who plays Ashley Peacock, Bruce Jones who plays Les Battersby and Bruno Langley who plays Todd Grimshaw.
This must-see game takes place on Sunday 31 October with a 1.00pm kick off time. The venue of the event will be Butterworth Park, the home of Castleton Gabriels FC which is at the end of Heywood Road, Castleton.
To make the event even more alluring, the game will be whistled off by Rochdale Mayor Angela Coric, along with dancers from JD Dance club of Whitehall Street Rochdale.
There will be a raffle after the match, the main prize being the match ball autographed by the soap stars, and the money is going to the GEM charity.
Admission tickets are only £3 for adults, £2 for children and £8 for a 4 person family (2 adults and 2 children under 12), not only is this low-priced but it is going to a good cause. Please contact Garry Whitworth on 07810 770055 or Karen Hoather on 07966 589509.
Help to make this one of the biggest charity events to happen in your town, your attendance could help make this fixture a regular event of celebrities in Rochdale!
