Get on the bus to help you bank your benefits

Date published: 04 October 2004

Everyone claiming benefits in Rochdale borough, who currently uses a Giro Book, will need to have their benefits paid directly into a bank account after April next year.

To ensure that everyone is prepared and doesn't lose out on their benefits, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing's Tenancy Support Team is offering free advice and information all next week.

Visitors to the bus can find out what kinds of bank account are available if they don't already have one. The service has teamed up with the BBC GMR Bus to help claimants find out what they need to do. The bright yellow bus will be at the following locations:

  • Monday 4 Oct Littleborough, Church Street, outside the Wheatsheaf public house
  • Tuesday 5 Oct Heywood Civic Centre, Wood Street, Heywood Wednesday 6 Oct The Strand, Kirkholt
  • Thursday 7 Oct Rochdale Centre for Diversity, Deen Road, Station Road, Rochdale
  • Friday 8 Oct Middleton Swimming Pool, Fountain Street, Middleton

If you require any further information or would like to get involved, please call the Tenancy Support Team on 01706 714491.
