New Courses at Heywood Arts

Date published: 23 September 2004

Heywood Arts, which delivers performance, creative and visual arts projects to the local community, is opening an IT based Creative Media base in Heywood Town Centre. The organisation has received over £50,000 from the Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities Fund to deliver creative courses in digital video and still photography, web-site design and management, effective press releases and music technology.

Pride Media, another locally based company, will deliver a significant number of the courses in the first year. These courses, which commence when the centre opens in October, will be aimed at individuals wanting to increase their skill level or employment opportunities and community or voluntary organisations wanting to be more effective in their work. Agencies will be able to refer clients or encourage self-referral. People can register an interest now on www.heywoodarts.org.uk or enquiries@heywoodarts.org.uk and more information will be sent.

John Schofield, Chair of Heywood Arts, said “This is a wonderful opportunity for local people and organisations and we are grateful to Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities for their support and all those who have assisting us in delivering creative IT courses within Heywood."
