Date published: 07 September 2015

Deeplish volunteers and children were presented with awards by the Mayor of Rochdale Surinder Biant and Mayoress Cecil Biant in the presence of local councillors to celebrate the successful delivery of summer activities.

Play scheme volunteers and staff at Deeplish hosted and run a very successful series of activities throughout the summer break.

Young people participated in sports, health and well-being workshops, drama, music and arts workshops.

Sohail Ahmad, Manager at Deeplish Community Centre, said: “This year’s play scheme was another successful venture and we were pleased for young people participating in a safe and enjoyable environment at the centre. There were also outdoor activities and visits for children.

"We were particularly pleased to see how volunteers took this project on board and delivered fantastically. Everyone achieved, enjoyed and learnt whilst attending our summer activities.

"Local councillors were in attendance and also presented awards to young people and volunteers on their achievements and participation.

"The play scheme attracted more than 185 children and 30 volunteers."

Mohamed Saleem, Chairman of Deeplish Community Centre said “We are thankful for RADPAC’s continued support, Living Well, Big Life’s staff to promote health amongst children and for all our staff and volunteers for their efforts and dedication in managing this project."
