TBA ladies put their best foot forward for Race for Life

Date published: 08 July 2015

Six ladies from Rochdale are looking forward to complete 5K at Race for Life in Heaton Park on Sunday (12 July).

Working in the sewing department of TBA Textiles, Wendy Chester, Francesca Coutts, Doreen Roberts, Wendy Collins, Anna Blaszczyk and Sharon Burke are putting on their running shoes, teaming together to raise money for Cancer Research.

They are fundraising to support of Wendy’s nephew David Fletcher, who, now aged 20, has been battling brain cancer for the last eight years.

TBA will be supporting them by matching any sponsor money they receive.

They have raised just over £1,000 so far.

Wendy said: “We are very excited. We have our bright-pink T-shirts ready, saying ‘TBA Treasure Chest’ on the front and ‘TBA sponsors Race for Life’ on the back. And with pigtails in our hair and matching T-shirts, we’re hoping to stand out in the crowd.

“Anna and I are runners already. All of us have trained and are prepared for Sunday, even Doreen who’s in her early 60s. She said she’s eager to finish it even if she has to be carried to the finish line.”
