Young people in Rochdale could win a Nintendo Wii by taking part in the national ‘RU Clear?’ Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screening programme for 15-25 year olds.
Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust (HMRPCT) is working with Rochdale Council on the ‘Wee for a Wii’ incentive.
The scheme will run throughout July, with every person taking part in the screening programme being entered into a prize draw.
Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea are sexually transmitted infections (STI) which are treatable with antibiotics. If left untreated they can cause infertility for both women and men. More than one in ten young people tested in Greater Manchester have been found to have Chlamydia. Anyone aged between 15 and 25 years old can have a free screening for chlamydia in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale. The test is a simple urine sample and all results are confidential.
Tests can be done at a number of places in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale but you can also use a home testing kit. To receive a testing kit, text “TEST” followed by your name and address to 84010. A couple of days later you will receive a testing kit in the post. Then all you have to do is just pee in a pot, fill out a form and put the test back in the post. Test results will be available within a week.
