Co-op in Littleborough re-opens Thursday following refurbishment

Date published: 09 December 2014

The Co-operative Food store in Littleborough will be re-opened by pupils from Littleborough Primary School and Wardle Academy at 10am on Thursday 11 December following completion of a £545,000 refurbishment.

The Station Road store has a completely new look with a focus on fresh food. There is a new layout and new freezers, and there will be extended ranges of chilled beers and wines. Staff at the store are receiving additional training to enable them to provide expert advice and to help inspire customers with meal ideas.

The Co-operative has also launched its commitment to 'Fair and Square Pricing', lowering prices on hundreds of everyday essentials such as bread, milk and bacon.

Clare Gibson, Store Manager, said: “I’m excited about welcoming shoppers into the new store. The transformation is amazing, and I’m sure our customers will enjoy shopping in this new environment, which makes it the perfect place to get ideas and inspiration whatever time of day they visit.

“The Co-operative is a community retailer, and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the local community, and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally, and learn about how The Co-operative can benefit local groups.”

The store has two 'community pioneers', Laura Gough and Angie Coop, appointed as part of a new programme that sees a member of the store team with an additional remit to foster a strong involvement in community activity, from volunteering opportunities to helping develop solutions to meet local needs.

The store is currently closed whilst the finishing touches to the refurbishment work is completed.
