Heywood identified for more waste sites

At a Council briefing at Rochdale Town Hall to identify potential sites for waste facilities in Rochdale Borough, Green Lane and Heap Bridge, Heywood have been identified by the council as preferred options.
Councillor Alan McCarthy, Chairman of Heywood Township alleges that Council Officer Paul Simpson said that the Heap Bridge area of the Borough is already tatty so there should not be much opposition.
Councillor Alan McCarthy said in response: "As Heywood Township Chair, I find this kind of response from an officer disgraceful and challenge the Lib Dem run council and the Chief Executive of Rochdale Council to rectify the continued lack of corporate funding that the tatty area of Heap Bridge needs by investing a high proportion of the Boroughwide Gateway Improvement Fund in Heap Bridge."
