Robbery at Middleton off-licence

Date published: 13 November 2014

Police have released an image of robbers who smashed their way into a Middleton off-licence.

At about 8.35pm on Sunday 2 November 2014, two masked men armed with crow bars entered Threshers Wine Merchants, on Lakeland Court.

They attacked and smashed the security screen in front of the till, prompting staff to run to the back of the shop and barricade themselves in a back room.

The robbers then leapt over the till and helped themselves to cash before running off.

No-one was injured.

Both robbers were described as white, around 6ft tall with a heavy build and wearing black balaclavas, black gloves and grey and dark tracksuit bottoms with three blue stripes down the side and dark jackets, one was a Puma jacket.

Detective Constable Nick Price, based at Middleton, said: "Thankfully no-one was hurt in this incident as the shop staff took some quick evasive action.

"I now want people to take a look at the image and recall whether they saw two men acting suspiciously in this area on the Sunday before last."

Any witnesses to the incident or anyone with information can contact DC 15368 Price on 0161 8568701 and leave a message or can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
