Rochdale Environmental Action Group go to Blackpool

Date published: 16 October 2014

Members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group organised a trip to Blackpool to see the lights on Sunday 12 October,2014. The journey was supported by Rochdale Community Transport.

For more than three years, members of REAG have been spending time in small teams to clean the streets and roads of Rochdale and decided to have a day out to build up more understanding of one another and the issues in other towns.

They enjoyed the trip and found there was a lot of improvement on the beach. There were more facilities and the roads and streets were clean.

They met many people from different towns, enjoyed fish and chips and seeing the lights along with time on the beach.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary, said: "We really enjoyed the trip to Blackpool and had our REAG reflective jackets which was appreciated by many local residents.

"It was good to see Blackpool's streets and roads and the litter condition.

"We would like to see the people of Rochdale taking responsibility of the front and rear of their properties and businesses to make Rochdale more beautiful and attractive for visitors."
