RSPCA shop in Castleton celebrating one year anniversary

Date published: 20 September 2014

The RSPCA shop in Castleton will be celebrating its first anniversary on Tuesday (23 September).

The Castleton shop was the eighth RSPCA shop to be opened in the borough and has grown to be a much loved shop in the community.

Shirley Mellor, shops area coordinator for RSPCA Rochdale said: “The first few months were a bit of a struggle but things have really turned around and we are getting a lot of support from the local community.

“We have a lot of loyal customers and often receive lots of lovely donations form people in the area.”

For their first year celebrations the shop will be holding a sale, giving out raffle tickets for a free prize draw and celebrating with a celebratory cake.

Shirley added: “It is just a good opportunity to celebrate the last year.”

During the last year, shop manager Katie was responsible for organising a charity fashion show which raised over £500 for the RSPCA.

Shirley said: “It was a really good event that raised a lot of money and is something Katie is looking at doing again next year.

“Katie is really bubbly and really gets on with the customers. Everyone in the community loves her so it shows that she is doing things right.”

The shop will be open from 9am for the celebrations.
