When Luis bit Cricket!

Date published: 14 August 2014

A novelty comedy song entitled ‘I was bit by Luis Suarez’ is about to be released by the nation’s favourite Irish Comedian Jimmy Cricket.

Jimmy penned this humorous ditty on the back of an infamous incident that occurred at this year’s world cup in Brazil. This incident caused a worldwide media storm and involved the Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez biting an Italian defender during one of the games at the tournament.

Immediately this inspired Jimmy to write one of his unique and colourful comedy songs about Suarez and his habit of using an unusual tactic on the field of play.

The idea of the song was then discovered by a specialist comedy record label called Rolling Tear. This company is based in West Yorkshire and near to Birstall.

Rolling Tear immediately arranged for Jimmy’s track to be recorded and for him to feature in the filming of an accompanying music video. The song is due to be released at the end of the month.

David Tennant from Rolling Tear said: "When I heard of the proposed title to the song, I just could not stop chuckling to myself. At that point we had to get Jimmy into the studio and recording the song.

"I definitely know there will be people out there who just will be intrigued to find out what this is all about!"

Jimmy Cricket added: "I was watching the World Cup and this whole incident surrounding the footballer Luis Suarez was just incredible. I could not believe it had happened. So it inspired me to have a bit of fun and write a comedy song about me bumping into Mr Suarez.

"And there’s more; I created the song to give everyone a giggle or two, even those who are not keen on football, so I really hope everyone enjoys listening and watching it!"
