A level success for students at St Anne’s Academy

Students from St Anne’s Academy in Middleton are celebrating after opening their A level results this morning (Thursday 14 August). Students who picked up their results from 7.30am all got into their first choice of university.

Maxine Eddleston, Director of Sixth Form at St Anne’s Academy, said: “The students have been just great. All of the students have got their first choice university places and all level three beauticians have passed. We offer vocational programmes as well as academic subjects along with the A level subjects so we can cater for all student abilities.

“In September we will have over 180 students here.”

Jessica Jefferies achieved an A in Forensic Science, a C in Sociology, a C in History and an E in Biology and is heading to Manchester Metropolitan University in September to study Bio Medical Science. She said: “It was a good experience but the A levels were difficult and they were harder than I expected.”

Daniel Bostock will also be heading to Manchester Metropolitan University with the hopes of becoming a History teacher. Daniel achieved an A in ICT, a B in History, a C in Maths and a C in Biology. He said: “I cam from Middleton Technical school and enjoyed being at Sixth Form but it was a difficult second year. I will be studying History at university with the hopes of becoming a history teacher.”

Rebecca Kenyon achieved a B in Performing Arts, an E in Art and Design and a distinction in BTEC Sport. “It has been good at sixth form and I have enjoyed it. I am now going on to university to study Sport and Physical Education. My aim is to work at coaching or to work with schools supporting children with special needs,” said Rebecca.

After achieving a B in BTEC Sport, a B in Performing Arts and a Distinction in Media, Cara Worthington will also be off to Manchester Metropolitan University to study Sport Development. Cara said: “I came from Middleton Technical School to St Anne’s and got so much help and support in Sixth Form. After doing Sport Development at Manchester Metropolitan University my aim to is to become a sports teacher or personal trainer.”
