In memory of Kelly family fun day raises almost £2,000 for Springhill Hospice
Date published: 13 August 2014
A family fun day in aid of Kelly Walsh, a lady who was cared for by the Hospice at Home team, is close to raising almost £2,000 for Springhill Hospice.
The fundraiser was held at Littleborough Sports Centre and included a Zumbathon and a 5k race as well as a Springhill Hospice tombola, cake sales, raffles and stalls.
Kelly’s mum, Linda, proudly ran in the 5k race in memory of her daughter. Kelly’s uncle, Graham Poole also took part in the race after training and raising over £600.
The Zumbathon, which was run by Link4Life instructors Kerri and Becky, lasted for two hours and saw over 30 people get involved.
Sports centre member Heather Webster also made cakes to be sold on the day and donated a hamper packed full of products.
Charlotte Molyneux who organised the event said: “Kelly was a fun loving person so we very much wanted the fun element. All in all it was a lovely day for a lovely person and hopefully we will hit the £2,000 mark for a very worthy charity.”
