A 35-year-old man was seriously assaulted as he walked home in Rochdale.

At around 10.20pm on Thursday 31 July 2014, he was walking on Hare Hill Road near to the junction with Church Street when he was approached by a group.

He was attacked, leaving him with serious head and face injuries.

Two people, a 15-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and have been bailed until 26/09/14

Detective Constable Richard Shelton said: “The victim had been enjoying a night out in Littleborough town centre and as he walked home, he was subjected to an unprovoked attack.

“He needed hospital treatment for his injuries but thankfully has since been discharged.

“From what we have been told, we believe there were a number of people in the area at the time of the attack and we are keen for them to come forward and speak to us.”
