Police have released CCTV after a car crashed into Hopwood Hall College, badly injuring the driver and causing extensive damage to the building.
At about 7.15pm on Saturday 9 August 2014, a grey Mini Cooper S was travelling along Manchester Road, towards Rochdale, when the driver lost control at the junction of Dane Street.
The car crossed the central reservation and collided with the railings, before ploughing into the college.
St Mary's Gate (A58) was closed for four hours.
The driver, a 21-year-old man, suffered head injuries and was taken to Salford Royal Infirmary for treatment. He is currently being treated in hospital and his condition remains stable.
Police Constable Simon McEvoy of Rochdale division said: “We are investigating the circumstances leading up to this collision and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to call us as soon as possible.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the two witnesses in the CCTV who were walking on the pavement at the time of the crash and may be able to assist us with the investigation.”
Anyone with information should phone police on 0161 856 8809 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
