Springhill Hospice Go Green day raises £11,000

Date published: 08 August 2014

The Springhill Hospice Go Green day has raised a grand total of £11,000. The event, which saw the town turn green for day, was held on Friday 16 May to celebrate 25 years of the Hospice.

Hundreds of people donned green clothes or put on green activities in a bid to raise funds for the Hospice.

In Rochdale businesses including Graham Poole Transport, Link4Life, Yorkshire Bank and TBD Associates were just a few to turn green for the day.

In Heywood, the Springhill Hospice Shop supported the fundraiser as well as Horrox, Cross and Wilkinson, Heywood Sports Village and the Circle who held an afternoon tea event for over 100 members.

Middleton also went green with staff at McBride wearing green clothes and the company’s reception being decorated with green decorations.

Fundraising Lead for Springhill Hospice, Alison McGuigan said: “£11,000 is a fantastic amount to have raised.

"It was great to see so many people, businesses and organisations helping support the event.

"Thank you to everyone who sponsored, supported and helped out during the event and a big thank you to RRG Toyota who sponsored the Go Green car for the day.”

The Hospice now plans to make Go Green day an annual event.
