Date published: 06 August 2014

The Springhill Hospice Shop, Market Street, Heywood was the winner of the best dressed vintage shop window competition that took place during the Heywood 1940s weekend.

The competition saw shops throughout Heywood dress their windows in a 1940s style with over 50 shops and businesses taking part.

Mike Goldrick, Vice Chairman of Heywood Business Group, said: "The judges had a tough choice to make this year as the quality of the entrants was so high, but after thinking long and hard and lots of second looks they decided that Springhill Hospice was the winner and well done to them.”

Derek Waddell, Manager of the Springhill Hospice shop, said: “It is wonderful that the staff have got the recognition for all of the hard work that they did on the display and that they do day-to-day.”

The shop was awarded a voucher for a meal at Weatherpsoons.

Mike Goldrick added: "I would like to say a big thank you to all of the shops and businesses who participated this year and who helped it become an even bigger success than last year despite the rainy morning.

"Roll on next year.”
