Staff from Asda present a cheque to Rotarian David Acton and staff and students from Redwood School
Asda has donated £200 to Rochdale Rotary Club and Redwood Secondary School after the organisations jointly won Asda’s Projects in the Community Competition.
The money will now enable the Rotary Club and the school to embark on a joint venture to create an urban farm trial area.
Rotarian David Acton, who specialises in growing food in urban situations, said: “By the time these students are leaving school home food, security and city horticulture could appear on the school curriculum. Students from the school could well become urban farmers helping to lead the world in becoming self sufficient.”
David and carers from Redwood Secondary School thanked Asda for the prize money and thanked them for continuing to encourage its customers to vote with their green tokens for community projects in Asda's future Community Projects Competitions.
