Bird to Beast confirm Rochdale Feel Good Festival appearance

Bird to Beast have been added to the bill for this year’s Rochdale Feel Good Festival

Folk-pop duo ‘Bird to Beast’ have confirmed an appearance at Rochdale Feel Good Festival on Saturday 30 August.

With a raft of addictive, quirky folk-pop tunes and a captivating stage presence, they released their debut single, the accordion-led ‘To Lips from Lungs’, in September last year as the lead track of a three track introductory EP. The single received national radio play on Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music amongst others and their album was hailed ‘Best album of 2013’ by the MEN.

They’ve already enjoyed superb receptions at festivals across the UK this summer, with their timeless melodies and soaring harmonies tipping a hat to the pop nous of greats like The Beach Boys and The Beatles as well as contemporary singer-songwriters like Rufus Wainwright.

Bird to Beast join the previously announced MDNGHT, Fickle Friends, The Selecter and headliners Scouting for Girls. The main stage will be opened by the local winner of this year’s ‘Battle of the Bands’ competition.

Event Manager Debbie Hernon said: “Bird to Beast have been getting a great reception across the country, with their psych-folk sounds blended to create something fresh and unique.”

Rochdale Feel Good Festival is staged on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August. There will be live music across indoor venues, a main stage against the backdrop of the town hall, a community stage on the Esplanade and a festival market. Chefs including Ainsley Harriott, Andrew Nutter, Aazam Ahmad and Peter Clough will host live cooking demonstrations throughout the event, which will also include a food market.

The summer festival is funded by Rochdale Borough Council, together with sponsorship from local businesses including Rochdale Online, RRG Toyota, Rochdale Observer, Wheatsheaf Shopping Centre, Carillion, Balfour Beatty Living, Rochdale Sixth Form College, 96.2 The Revolution, The Flying Horse Hotel, Hopwood Hall College, Mango Bar, Rochdale Exchange, Link4Life, Public Health and the Maskew Fund.
