Plant pot decorating at Alkrington Moss Community Base
Alkrington Moss residents teamed up with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) to give their homes a big summer clean-up.
Skips were placed at three sites around the neighbourhood giving people the chance to get rid of household and garden rubbish.
A total of eight skips were filled during the day with RBH employee volunteers and the Alkrington Moss RBH Junior Wardens helping residents to carry items from their homes.
As well as the clean-up, local youngsters planted up and decorated pots to bring some summer cheer outside the Community Base while residents were invited to call inside for a free health check.
RBH Neighbourhood Housing Officer Jeff Wood said: “The day was a big success with people using the opportunity to have a clear out and get rid of items that were hanging about.
“It was really encouraging to see the youngsters pitch in and help the less able residents remove their rubbish to the skips aided by our volunteers. This can only help improve relations between young people and the older residents.”
