Help to Buy in Rochdale
Date published: 01 August 2014
143 households in Rochdale have been able to buy their own homes through the Help to Buy scheme.
The government scheme aims to help people buy their own homes by offering them a deposit fee of as little as 5%.
It was announced to day (31 July) that almost 40,000 households have bought a home across the country through the scheme.
Across Greater Manchester, 1,175 homeowners have benefited from the equity loan scheme so far.
Housing and Planning Minister, Brandon Lewis, said: “Hard working families are getting the homes they want, while housebuilding has increased to its highest level since 2007.”
Mr Lewis said that today’s figures were further evidence that Help to Buy was doing exactly what it was designed to achieve: providing assistance to hard-working families, while expanding and accelerating the supply of new homes.
Over 80% of sales have gone to first time buyers and have been for new build homes.
