Street drinkers
A number of people drinking on the streets around Rochdale train station, the tram stop and Nye Bevan House on Maclure Road are causing concern to residents in the area.
It is understood that drinkers, who frequent the area for a few days at a time, will often leave beer cans littered around.
Shafiq Iqbal, who has witnessed the street drinkers, said: “These people need to be moved on. They hang around from 9am until 9pm shouting and swearing at people.”
Shafiq described the drinkers as being “so drunk” and added: “The convenience store keeps serving them.”
A spokesperson for Rochdale Council said: “We are aware of the issues caused by people drinking in the street and are working closely with Greater Manchester Police to tackle them.”
Rochdale Police have not responded to a request for comment.
