High Five Presentation Evening - Childminders with their awards
More than 100 child care providers from across the borough attended Rochdale Town Hall to celebrate reaching the highest standard of The Rochdale Early Years Quality Award.
Across the whole of the borough 47 childminders, 25 playgroups, 40 Private Day nurseries, one out of school club and one independent school received the award.
The presentation was hosted by Rochdale’s Director of Children’s Services, Gail Hopper, who said: “The High Five Plaque is only awarded to providers with an Ofsted grade of good or outstanding, so it proves just how dedicated you have to be in order to receive this sort of recognition.
“What I found most inspiring is that the recipients of the High Five were determined to improve even further and are aiming to maintain consistently outstanding practice.”
Councillor Donna Martin, Rochdale Council’s Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said: “This is a tremendous achievement by our borough’s childcare providers and demonstrates the hard work and commitment that they have put into giving our children the best possible start in life.”
Childcare providers must go through a robust verification process in order to show that they deliver quality childcare for children and families. The High Five plaque in a provider’s entrance can be used, along with its Ofsted grade, to inform parents of what to expect for their children.
The High Five is certified by The Centre for Excellence and Outcomes in Children and Young People's Services (C4EO). All elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage are included in the toolkit, ensuring that providers are working with children and their families to enable them to have the very best start for their early years learning.
