Springhill Hospice 2015 Calendar Photograph Competition

Date published: 16 July 2014

The 2015 Hospice Calendar photograph competition is now over. The winning photos for next year’s calendar have been chosen but will remain a secret until 21 August when the calendar will be launched.

An exhibition of all 123 photos submitted was displayed in the Exchange Shopping Centre. The general public were invited to vote for the picture which they thought should have pride of place on the front cover of next year’s calendar. Thanks to everyone who took part; over 1,000 votes were cast.

An independent panel then selected the images that will illustrate the twelve months of the year. The winning photos were chosen to reflect the four seasons of the year in and around the Borough. This year’s task was especially difficult because of the high number of submissions and the high quality of the photos.

The panel members were:

  • Jo Munro – Rochdale Sixth Form College
  • Frank Harrison – Chairman of Rochdale & District Camera Club
  • Gerry Sammon – Editor Rochdale Observer, Middleton & North Manchester Guardian, and Heywood Advertiser

Assisted by:

  • Springy
  • Margaret Geoghegan - President of the Hospice
  • Sarah Ford – Income Services Manager at the Hospice

The 2015 calendar launch will take place in the Springhill Suite at the Hospice, starting at 7.00pm on Thursday 21 August. If you want to be there and be the first to know the secret (no charge) please email: kajsmith@hotmail.co.uk to book your place. Hurry it as places are limited.

The Hospice is already planning the 2016 calendar. The photo competition will run during February and March 2015 and all entries will have to be submitted by the end of March 2015. This usually means that there are many more photos submitted illustrating the Borough in autumn and winter. So, get out your cameras now to get some great shots of the Borough looking at its best in summer.
