A motorcyclist from Heywood has died following a collision in Oldham.

Around 7.05pm on Sunday 13 July 2014, a white Fiat 500 travelling north along Cross Street towards the junction with Huddersfield Road has been in collision with a motorbike, a black Honda Fireblade, travelling in the opposite direction from Shaw Road.

The motorcyclist, a 40-year-old man from Heywood, was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses.

Sergeant Kevin Woodward from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "This man has sadly lost his life and we are investigating the full circumstances of the collision. We have already spoken to a number of witnesses but would ask if anyone else saw the collision or either vehicle in the moments beforehand that they call us."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4741.
