M&S boss inspires students

Date published: 10 July 2014

A group of students completing their retail knowledge course were given industry insights this week, thanks to Marks and Spencer manager, Nick Bluer.

The visit allowed the students to ask questions about the industry and hear from Nick about the company’s ethos, recruitment policy and current vacancies.

Nick commented: “I was delighted to be asked to meet with the students. They showed great interest in retail and I’m sure they will go far in the industry. Retail is all about people, inspiring customers, giving them great service and a reason to come back. The students were so enthusiastic and certainly gave me a reason to come back. It was an absolute privilege and honour to represent M&S and talk with future employees. I wish them all good luck.”

Jayne May, the group’s tutor at Training @ Hopwood commented: “Nick was an absolute inspiration to everyone. His enthusiasm was great and all the advice he was able to give about the industry really helped the group. He was very approachable and answered everyone’s questions.”

It is hoped that a number of the group will now be able to find employment with Marks & Spencer, having been asked to attend interviews with the company, following Nick’s visit.
