Springhill Hospice Yesteryear Festival

Date published: 09 July 2014

The Springhill Hospice Yesteryear Festival will take place on 2 and 3 August.

The weekend will see a fair, a living history field full to brimming with over 50 military vehicles, re-enactments, and hands on 1940s exhibits. Vintage clothed men and women will be mingling in with visitors, watching displays, and taking a tank ride or two on Peter Cordwell's 80 acre farm near the Birch Hotel off Manchester Road in Heywood (OL10 2PX).

There will also be over 60 stalls selling everything from cakes to black pudding, tombola's to ice-cream plus coffee, tea, cakes and a licensed bar. A fair, a hog roast, bbq and a stone baked pizza van. And with much of the fun being under cover, a little traditional British summer weather won't dampen the spirits.

"To make it a weekend to remember we are also putting on an evening supper dance" added Hospice Fundraiser Alison McGuigan. "On Saturday 2 August at 7.30pm we will be eating pie and peas and enjoying the music of the Cotton Town Hot Club and Lillie Moore with classics from the 1940's".

The event opens at 10 am and closes at 5pm on both days, Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 of August with the Pie & Pea Supper at 7.30pm on Saturday 2nd (ticket only - for tickets contact Springhill Hospice Fundraising on 01706 641790).

"Last year saw 4,500 people through the gates on just one day so we are hoping that with such a fantastic range of entertainment on two days, we'll have a bumper fundraising event" said Alison.

Entry costs £4 for adults and £2 for children and a family ticket for just £10. Parking is free.

All proceeds to Springhill Hospice.
