Aston Buckley raises money for Millstream Animal Shelter

Date published: 08 July 2014

Aston Buckley has raised £400 for Millstream Animal Shelter after his latest fundraising activity at Ashton Under-Lyne’s farmer's market.

Aston, a year 10 pupil at Beech House School, who has been a supporter of the shelter since his grandmother, Margaret Kearns became a volunteer, held a tombola stocked with gifts and prizes to raise money for the shelter.

Located on Oldham Road, the shelter shop which provided the prizes for the tombola, is staffed by volunteers and accepts donations of clothing and small items.

Funds raised through the shop are then used to help fund the Animal Shelter at Clayton Bridge - which is currently offering a neutering programme and is home to pets looking for loving and caring homes.

This is not the first time Aston has raised money for a well deserved cause, in April he raised over £200 for CICRA, the charity for children with Crohn’s Disease and Colitis by selling organic bakes.

Julie Hilton, Aston’s mum, said: “Many thanks to the kind support, wonderful messages and heartfelt donations of all visitors to the stall and a very special thank you to Pauline Huggins, shop Manager, devoted supporter and fundraiser for Millstream.”
