RBH Representative Body election: last chance for nominations

Date published: 08 July 2014

Nominations for the elections to the Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) Representative Body will close on Friday 11 July. RBH members who wish to put themselves forward for the five tenant and two employee positions available should visit the RBH elections site on www.uk-engage.org/rbh or call the Governance Team on 01706 273815.

After Friday 11 July, nominations will close, and the voting period will occur from Monday 28th July until Friday 22nd August. All members will receive a ballot and candidate information pack at the start of the voting period. Members will be able to vote by post, online or by text.

RBH is the first tenant and employee co-owned mutual housing society in the country and the elected Representative Body provides a voice for members in the Governance of RBH. There are currently over 3000 tenant and employee members of RBH.

The Representative Body is elected to represent members and the wider community in the RBH decision-making process. It comprises 15 elected tenant representatives and eight elected employee representatives, together with eight appointees in total from the Tenant Management Organisations, Rochdale Council and external partners.

One-third of the Representative Body is up for election each year. In 2014, there will be an election for five tenant members and two employee members, who will serve for a term of three years.

RBH members can find out more about the elections, and download a nomination form, by visiting our special election website at www.uk-engage.org/rbh or contacting the Governance Team on 01706 273815.

Edward Carpenter, RBH Governance Manager, said: "These elections are a real opportunity to make a difference to how RBH is run, and I want as many tenants and employees as possible to get involved – make sure that you get involved and use your vote."
