Hundreds turn out for People's Art launch

Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Carol Wardle officially opened this year's People's Art exhibition at Touchstones Rochdale
Around 200 people turned out on Saturday (5 July) to see the Mayor of Rochdale, officially open this year's People's Art exhibition at Touchstones Rochdale.
Organised by Link4Life's Arts and Heritage service, this popular annual exhibition gives the chance for residents of all ages, both amateur and professional to show their work and once again the huge array of talent on display has filled two full galleries with examples of paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, animation and craft objects.
Declaring the exhibition open, Councillor Carol Wardle congratulated all those taking part saying, “This year’s show is event bigger and better than last year, with over 200 entries. I have great pleasure in declaring the show open – please do enjoy yourself and take a good look around the two galleries which showcases the creative talent of the borough”.
Visitors to the exhibition can vote for their favourite artwork in the 'People's Choice' award and there are free hands on activities for children in the gallery with the popular 'Art Paddock'.
The exhibition runs until Saturday 6 September 2014, located on The Esplanade just a two minute walk from Rochdale town centre and bus station, Touchstones Rochdale is open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-5pm. Entry is free.
