Councillor Peter Rush raised £37,000 for a number of local charities during his mayoral year.
The money was raised by the Heywood councillor between May 2013 and April 2014 and will be split across the Rochdale branch of Parkinson’s UK, Springhill Hospice, Heywood Talking Newspaper, Little Monkeys and Hey Kids as well as other charities across the borough.
Councillor Rush said: “I am very pleased with the total raised and I am very grateful to all of my committee and the people who have
supported this fundraising. I have received 100% respect from people and I couldn’t have asked for a better year.
“I am proud to have risen as much as we have done and I am very grateful to everyone who was part of my mayoral year.”
Councillor Rush is starting to allocate the money to his chosen charities with cheques and donations being presented soon.
