Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill - still a lot to play for says MP
Date published: 21 May 2008
Jim Dobbin MP
Heywood and Middleton MP Jim Dobbin, currently recuperating after a knee operation, has spoken of his disappointment following the decisions in the House of Commons this week on aspects of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill.
Mr Dobbin said: "It is important to remember that the bill is not finished. It still has to go Public Bill Committee for several days and come back into the chamber for the report stage and third reading in mid June followed by a vote. Then it will probably return to the Lords for further scrutiny before returning to the Commons where there might or might not be another vote.
"The campaigning will carry on and I hope the public will still continue to express their abhorrence of this dangerous legislation to the Prime Minister. There is still a lot to play for."
