Images of Extra Care scheme at Hare Hill in Littleborough

Date published: 30 June 2014

Images of the Extra Care scheme at Hare Hill in Littleborough have been released by architects Pozzoni to help people visualise what the completed project will look like.

Due to open in March 2015, the Extra Care facility will provide a warm and welcoming environment to allow older people to lead independent lives in their own home with the reassurance of having 24-hour support available.

The site will include a garden, community café and facilities for hobbies and interests while residents will also be able to visit the local park, library and shops.

In line with Rochdale Boroughwide Housing’s (RBH) mutual principles it was designed following consultation with RBH residents and the local community as well as Rochdale Borough Council’s Social Care team, who will commission the care provider for residents in the facility.

It is being built with the help of a grant for £903,000 from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).

Clare Tostevin, RBH Head of Strategy and Regeneration, said: “Our new purpose built Extra Care facility at Hare Hill is a very exciting project that will benefit the local community as well as older people across the borough and we hope that these great new images will really help to capture people’s imagination.

“The site will provide a good quality, affordable option for our growing older population and enable residents to continue to live independently while having support close at hand.”

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, Cabinet member for Adult Care at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We’re really excited to be involved in this fantastic new Extra Care facility at Hare Hill.

“This is a defining moment in the way we care for our older residents. It will mean they can maintain their independence but still have the reassurance of 24-hour care on site, as well as community facilities which will keep them connected to their friends and neighbours.”
