Danielle Wrigley gains Emerson Educational Trust Award

Date published: 30 June 2014

Danielle Wrigley, 19, from Middleton, has been awarded The Emerson Educational Trust Award for her learning achievements.

Danielle is studying for her NVQ Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up Level 2 at Hopwood Hall College. She was selected from thousands of students to receive the award after impressing judges with her learning success.

Danielle said: “I’m thrilled to win this award. I didn’t expect it and was so shocked when my name was announced. I’m really glad and very proud of myself.”

She continued: “I’ve really enjoyed studying at Hopwood Hall College and feel that I’ve learnt so much since I started in September. The College salon has built up my confidence with talking to clients as that is a skill you need working in the industry. I was really glad to have won the ‘Total Look’ competition as I worked to the best of my ability and I am excited to take part in more competitions and College events in the future. I have a passion for media make-up and hopefully I will go to university and study it after level 3 and become successful in the industry.”

Danielle’s hard work and dedication has continually impressed her tutors and, whilst Danielle’s talent has achieved her great results at college, including winning first place in a ‘Total Look’ competition, outside of college Danielle has made it her mission to volunteer her skills to the wider community. This has seen her volunteer as a make-up artist for a local theatre workshop production at the Middleton Arena, offer her face painting skills at a children’s party organised by the College and, in addition to this, Danielle has built up her own clientele while studying, offering makeup and hair services.
